Emily Blunt Inspired Dakota Johnson To Work In Fifty Shades Franchise
Dakota Johnson was very scared when she first got the role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey. The movie wasn’t something she would have usually gone for and it would have been a big step for her. She had no one to share the news with and the confusion was seeping within her. However, there was one person she could consult.
“I spoke to Emily Blunt, and I was like, ‘Should I do this trilogy? Because I want to have a really special career, and I want to make a certain kind of film. And I know that this is going to change things.’ She was like, ‘F—ing do it if it feels right. Just do it. Always do what you want to do.’”
The actress rushed to Emily Blunt who aided her without a second thought. The Oppenheimer star suggest she not take a single minute to think and just say yes to the project if that is what Johnson really wanted. If she wanted to make a mark on the world differently, then that was the way.
Dakota Johnson Thought She Could Have Done Something Else With Her Role
After Dakota Johnson took on the role in the famous trilogy, she was bombarded with questions about what she did and what she could have done instead. That was something the actress observed as well. There were a lot of ways in which she could have played the character but she chose to do it in her own way.
“I guess I could have gone in a certain direction, but that’s just not what I was interested in … I don’t pay attention to the noise. I pay attention to if the script is great and the people involved are great.”
The actress saw the script and knew how she wanted to create Anastasia Steele. Without a second glance, she brought the character to life the way she saw it best. She did not let a character so vanilla let her creativity be dulled out.
