Who is Galactus in Fantastic Four?

The supervillain Galactus was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966. Galactus’s first appearance was in the movie, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, released in 2007. He was shown as an inhuman cosmic force who did not speak and had sent the Silver Surfer as its herald to prepare Earth beings for his arrival. He plans to finish the life force of the planet Earth, as he had countless worlds before.

However, in the movie, it was depicted very differently from the character portrayal in Marvel Comics. As per the comics, he was originally a humanoid space explorer named Galan, belonging to the pre-Big Bang planet of Taa. He was exposed to cosmic energy after the Big explosion and was transformed into a massive world-eating creature dressed in magenta armor.

Shakman’s film will be the fourth live-action movie about Marvel’s first family, as director Tim Story’s movie Fantastic Four came out in 2005, which was followed by Rise of the Silver Surfer and Josh Trank’s reboot in 2015.

Fantastic Four is scheduled for theaters on February 14, 2025.
