Marvel Studios has been the powerhouse of superheroes which has introduced quite iconic comic characters that have been highly appreciated by fans. However, not every character was entitled to be introduced to the franchise but not anymore since Disney now owns 21st Century Fox.

It has been reported that the story is “set within a secret facility that experiments on mutants and the main character (Blu Hunt’s Danielle Moonstar) doesn’t know she is a mutant or the meaning of the word (mutant). Moonstar is brought to the facility after an attack by Demon Bear.”
Given the theory, they are rumoredly exploring, it means that the characters would not know that they are mutants or their possible connection with the Fox’s X-Men franchise. As for why it happened, one of the reasons hints,
“In case Kevin Feige decides later he wants to bring The New Mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
It makes sense since Marvel Studios President can still explore the characters in MCU with much freedom to incorporate them in whatever fits the franchise. The report comes shortly after the test screenings of the film which were held recently got a positive response even though it was unable to impress Disney.

“Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves.”
The New Mutants is now scheduled to release in theaters on April 3, 2020.
