Blue Beetle was an extremely anticipated film amongst fans of the DC Universe. Despite the hype around the film, however, many predictions and online engagement suggested that the film would not do all too well after its release. This, unfortunately, became true when the movie hit theaters, and the film can be considered a box-office failure due to its underwhelming performance and its audience’s feeling afterward.
Despite this, however, James Gunn seems to have included Xolo Maridueña’s character in his plan for the future of the DCU, with the post-credit scene of the film setting up one of the greatest DC Justice League partnerships that put many others to shame.
Blue Beetle Sets Up The Future Of Its Characters
The director of Blue Beetle, Angel Manuel Soto, has not been afraid to talk about the future of the characters that appear in his film, including talking about a potential sequel. The post-credit scene of the movie also sets up an incredibly interesting plot involving Ted Kord, the original Blue Beetle. The scene set up the fact that Kord is, in fact, alive and in desperate need of help.
“We wanted to give some closure to her character. Obviously, that closure was a lot of doors to open and that closure comes with the fact that Ted Kord did not die, he disappeared,” stated Soto, “While we don’t know where he’s at or why he sent that message, we know that he’s going to be somewhere in the future whether it’s by himself or with Booster Gold,” Soto continued. “Everything is open.”
Along with this, Soto also explained that Kord’s character could be explored more in Booster Gold, a series that is in development and will follow the titular character, also known as Michael Carter, who is a beloved friend of Jamie Reyes. The director mentioned that though there isn’t much we know about the status of Kord, we know that he is somewhere in the future alone, or, perhaps, with Gold.

What Is The Relationship Between Blue Beetle And Booster Gold?
While there are a number of great friendships that are seen across the many different comic books universes, with the likes of Captain America and Bucky Barnes, Tony Stark and Rhodey, and the Human Torch and Spider-Man, there are none have captured the attention of fans and been as memorable as the bond shared between Blue Beetle and Boster Gold.
The two have been best friends for quite a long time, having appeared together a huge number of times since their initial meeting in Justice League where they became close friends very quickly and have stuck together through many trails, including their deaths and reboots. Michael Carter and Jamie Reyes share a comedic sort of dynamic, possessing very little self-awareness.
