Some films in cinema history become larger than life, and thus, demand and deserve sequels that further build up the story that takes the audience on a journey with them. One such film that turned into its franchise is none other than the Indiana Jones franchise that started in 1981 with Raiders of The Lost Ark.
And leading this franchise into popularity was Hollywood legend Harrison Ford, who has been playing the role of Archeologist Dr. Henry Walter Jones Jr., popularly known as Indiana Jones, for more than 40 years of his career. But with the upcoming film in the series, it seems like his time has come, and young blood will soon be replacing him in the franchise.
Harrison Ford May Die And Be Replaced In Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny
Playing the role of the globe-trotting, relic-hunting, death-defying and just being an overall bada*s explorer Dr. Herny Walter Jones Jr. for the better part of his career, Harrison Ford became the face of the beloved Indiana Jones franchise and brought us some of the most memorable films that the world had ever seen. Therefore, it was borderline sinful to even think that someone may replace him in the future. But according to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, this might just be the case in the upcoming film.
In a recent statement given by the executive to Variety, she talked about the future of the series, in which she also hinted at the fact that despite this film being the last one which will feature Ford as Indy, the franchise may still be able to continue as Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character Helena Shaw may become the next heir to the Indiana Jones name. She said:
“it’s entirely possible, but. but we’re not having any of those conversations right now. We’re just focused on finishing this with Harrison.”
Although this statement may not have given many details into the matter, reports have been swarming up from different sources that point to the fact that Jones might lose his life in the upcoming Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny, which leads to Helena Shaw picking up the iconic hat and continuing the legacy that Ford left behind.

What To Expect From Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny?
After more than a decade of waiting, the time has finally come when the audience will be graced by Ford for the last time as the legendary explorer in the upcoming Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny. After the end of World War II, Indiana Jones finds himself in a race against time to retrieve an ancient relic that can alter the events from the past and change the course of history, to save the world from a former Nazi.
