Despite being a tremendous on-screen performer, Amber Heard has been constantly surrounded by controversy and backlash over the past few years, especially over her messy divorce and defamation case that followed with her ex-husband Johnny Depp. As recent events would have it, the release of her former boyfriend Elon Musk’s biography by Walter Isaacson titled Elon Musk has further added fuel to the flames.
But what’s worse are the details about the estranged pair’s candid love affair that have been revealed in the biography, titling Musk’s reaction to it as ‘brutal’.

As per the details shared by the Los Angeles Times, in the chapter “Rocky Relationships” from the biography, Walter Isaacson described the pair’s love affair as having ignited after Elon Musk saw Amber Heard in Machete Kills (2013) and took an interest in her.
He further stated that they reportedly met a year later when the actress visited SpaceX, with the billionaire taking the Aquaman star for a ride in Tesla during the same meet. Not only this, Heard reportedly told the author that she was fascinated by the Tesla CEO’s work, saying,
“I guess I could be called a geek for someone who can also be called a hot chick.”
According to Isaacson’s writing, Musk even flew to Australia to visit his former girlfriend while she was shooting for Aquaman. At another event, Heard allegedly ordered a costume of the character Mercy from the videogame Overwatch to roleplay her after the SpaceX founder told her that she resembled her.
Isaacson has opened up in detail about their whirlwind romance which was confirmed to be official in April 2017, writing that Amber Heard “drew [Musk] into a dark vortex that lasted more than a year and produced a deep-seated pain that lingers to this day”, also including how “[Musk’s] brother and friends hated her with a passion” following the same.
Love Affair With Amber Heard Was ‘Brutal’ For Elon Musk
As per more details shared by The Hollywood Reporter, Walter Isaacson has also added their explosive arguments during their relationship in his biography. This includes their fight during the trip with Musk’s family to South America in December 2017, followed by photos and videos of the pair shared by Amber Heard from later that evening, including one of their affectionate New Year’s Eve kiss.
However, diving deeper, the author has also titled this relationship a “hellacious” one for the world’s richest man, with Musk himself remarking that it “was brutal” indeed. While Johnny Depp‘s ex-wife acknowledged this, she also claimed that she still loves her ex-beau “very much.” She also added how Musk tends to be enticed to women who may ultimately not be good for him, saying,
“Elon loves fire, and sometimes it burns him.”
Furthermore, Kimbal Musk, Elon Musk‘s brother, who was also present on the night of their big argument, reportedly shared with Isaacson how he finds it “really sad” that,
“[Elon Musk] falls in love with these people who are really mean to him”. He elaborated: “They’re beautiful, no question, but they have a very dark side and Elon knows that they’re toxic.”
But what’s more heartbreaking is the billionaire’s reaction to Isaacson’s question as to why he ends up falling for these types of women only, who laughed and said:
“Because I’m just a fool for love. I am often a fool, but especially for love.”
Amber Heard and Elon Musk finally called it quits in 2018 after dating on and off for nearly a year.
