EA CEO "Unbelievably Excited" About New Battlefield Reboot - Can it Dethrone Call of Duty?

The Battlefield series is arguably one of the best first-person shooter games with fans all over the world. The last game was Battlefield 2042 released two years ago and it wasn’t what players had hoped for and also failed to meet developers and EA’s expectations. EA recently hinted at the next Battlefield game and said that it will be a “reimagination of Battlefield” and will have a connected ecosystem which, to be honest, nobody knows what it means.

There is nothing concrete known about the new Battlefield reboot title but it is confirmed that the game is being developed by EA’s first-party studio Ripple Effect along with DICE. Ripple Effect is focusing on the single-player campaign and is headed by Respawn boss Vince Zampella. EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson has now commented on the game and said that he is “Unbelievably Excited” excited about it.

EA Boss Andrew Wilson is Excited for the New Battlefield Reboot

Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts commented on the new Battlefield Reboot at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia & Technology Conference and said that the previous competitor is now developing a Battlefield game “for the future” and he is very excited about it. He said,

“The relaunch of Battlefield, one of the great first-person shooters of our generation. We employed a leadership group from our competitor who has basically rearchitected how that competitor went to market and they’re building Battlefield for the future. I’m unbelievably excited about that.”

Wilson said that they hired a previous competitor and are making a game for the future. Considering how the game was hinted at with words like reimagination and connected ecosystem it seems like that game will have live services.

Can the New Battlefield Reboot Compete with Call of Duty?

Although Call of Duty is sitting at the throne of first-person shooter games, Battlefield has a good player base that looks forward to new games in the franchise. But when it comes to the new Battlefield reboot title leaving Call of Duty behind, it is highly unlikely and there are numerous reasons. The last game in the series, Battlefield 2042 was a failure and was slammed by both fans and critics. Several important features were missing that ought to be in games like this such as a scoreboard and voice chat.

The game also made some unnecessary changes that made players fume over the developers and it led to players leaving and Battlefield 2042 being one of the worst-reviewed games of all time. Also, Call of Duty releases a game every year unlike Battlefield and this keeps gamers hooked and anticipating new games and what it could entail.

Overall, it would be very hard for Battlefield reboot to even come close to Call of Duty but if the developers abandon any ideas that hindered Battlefield 2042‘s success and focus on what players are asking and hoping for, they could still compete.
