Fast and Furious stars Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s rivalry has been a hot topic for several years now. The two actors have been taking verbal shots at each other, which would often make a buzz on social media. The former wrestler and Deisel had put numerous allegations against one another, which also made fans choose sides. But ultimately the arch-rivals have resolved their issues and become friends.
The cameo of Dwayne Johnson in the recent installment of the Fast and Furious, has raised questions about the reality of the ongoing feud between the two for years.
Dwayne Johnson planned to use drama for Fast X
Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s rivalry started when they were shooting for the film The Fate of the Furious. Johnson was the first one to take a jab at his co-stars, as he called them unprofessional candy a**es. Diesel was quite offended by the remark, and he retaliated to it. Since then, there has been a feud that went on for years.
However, there are speculations that a fight between the two might be set up, and they are not real enemies. People are talking that the whole feud may have been established so that Dwayne had a path to become a part of the new Fast and Furious movie.
Baywatch star’s statement in an interview with The Los Angeles Times in 2016 offered proof of the fakeness of the rivalry. Johnson had said,
“I’ve been in the game a long time. Would Universal [Pictures] have preferred that didn’t happen? Sure, we talked about it. The irony is after that and as they do their tracking and all their analysis, the interest shot through the roof to a whole other level.”
As per the statement, Dwayne Johnson knows what he is doing, as it is a common tactic in the wrestling world. The feud between actors kept them in the limelight and added to the success of the film.
Dwayne Johnson used the WWE technique for Fast X
The fans of these actors have doubts about the reality of the rivalry and consider it more as a tool for promoting the film. Any WWE enthusiast can tell that it was an act or work as termed in the wrestling world. In the wrestling industry, the conflicts between the wrestlers are manufactured, which makes the matches interesting for the viewers. It is known to everyone that the fights or matches are often pre-determined. People enjoy seeing fights intermingled with drama, and Johnson has applied a similar concept to his film also.
The game is very simple; generates a conflict, which would increase engagement and create a probable scene of a payoff in the end. Johnson’s schedule has been very tight since the last film Fate of the Furious, as he is busy relaunching the XFL and doing other projects. Fans speculate that maybe he had to do some other projects in between, so Johnson and Vin Diesel decided to create a fake feud to retain their hype and open dialogue for their reunion in later years.
Fast X is presently in theatres worldwide.
