In 2017 Tom Cruise’s The Mummy was released on the big screen. Sofia Boutella played the role of Ahmanet, Cruise portrayed the role of Nick Morton, and Annabelle Wallis was seen as Jenny Halsey. The Mummy was released on 9 June 2017. The 60-year-old actor talked about his filming experience on the Jimmy Fallon show and described how difficult a few stunts were for him to perform.

When Jimmy Fallon asked Cruise about the stunt scenes in the movie, the Top Gun actor explained the difficulties he came across, even though he had so much experience in doing stunts on camera. He told Fallon,

“I had this idea for a scene with Annabelle Wallis and that I wanted to do the plane crash for real. So, we went to Bordeaux, France, we built this set inside this airplane. A lot of engineering went into this, a lot of research and development, actually.

He further added,

We spent two days on the vomit comet. They call it the vomit comet because it does a parabolic arc and usually people get sick.”

Fallon also became curious about the vomit comet and questioned the legendary actor about how horrible the stench within the comet was. Cruise responded by noting that the smell was bothersome.

Cruise stated that he and his co-star Wallis had only one option, which was to focus on their work. They kept filming, but it was impossible for them to work and not be bothered by the stench. The War of the Worlds actor also stated that they may have become ill in the comet, but they were fortunate not to have any health issues, Cruise said,

“We were like, ‘Don’t even think about it. Just focus on the work, you know? Focus on the work, focus on the shot. In between the takes, you go into zero Gs for about 35 seconds, and then in between takes, we’re getting ready to do the next thing, the guys pull out their bags and they’re going for it. Luckily, I didn’t get sick and Annabelle didn’t get sick.”

Cruise also praised the 38-year-old actress who was filming the stunt with him. He claimed that despite the fact that Wallis had never done something like this before, she performed brilliantly during the scene’s filming. The 60-year-old actor described her as a champ.
