!! Warning: Minor spoiler ahead !!

In the movie, a flashback of Rocket reveals the past of the anthropomorphic raccoon. It was horrible, loaded with cruel torture by the villain, High Evolutionary. Nebula watches the recordings of Rocket’s past and said that the cruel torture the Racoon had to endure was “worse than anything Thanos ever did” to her.

Following its release, the Animal rights organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) hailed James Gunn for exposing the reality of animal abuse through the character of Rocket. The organization also honored Gunn with the Not a Number Award.

“Through Rocket, James Gunn has put a face, a name, and a personality on the millions of vulnerable animals being cycled through laboratories as we speak,” Peta Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said in a recent statement.

“Peta is celebrating this as the best animal rights film of the year for helping audiences see animals as individuals and suggesting that just because we can experiment on them doesn’t mean that we should.”

Further, PETA shared images of Rocket being abused by The High Evolutionary and OrgoCorp scientists with real abuse of the animals on their official website, showing restraining devices and tattooed identification. They said that both are quite similar.

PETA found the movie as one of the best movies to expose animal abuse in the name of scientific experiments. Also, presenting it to a Marvel-sized audience is quite a big deal. However, PETA’s appreciation did not go well with some fans and the users took to social media to express their thoughts on the matter.

One user wrote boldly about PETA’s opinion.

Another user claimed that PETA killed a 9-year-old’s pet dog.

Another user further trolled the organization.

Another user asked the organization to rewatch the film a couple of times to ensure they really got the message, claiming the hypocrisy of PETA.

The trolling continues, and it appears some fans are not very fond of the organization and their opinion on the beloved movie stirring this huge online debate. However, some fans are also supportive of the opinion of the organization saying that it is important to highlight the issue.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was released on 5 May and currently running in theatres.
