"Don't believe everything you read": Zendaya's Euphoria Co-Star Barbie Ferreira, Who Quit the Show, Claims She Was a "Victim to Season 2"

Euphoria Season one debuted in the year 2019 and in no time has become a fan favorite. People loved the way Sam Levinson brought the story of complex characters to life. Apart from fantastic visuals and great storytelling, Euphoria also has a star-studded cast whose performances make it a perfect teen drama series. But sadly, last year one of the cast member’s sudden departure shocked fans.

Euphoria Season 3 will soon be hitting the OTT platform. Barbie Ferreira who plays the character of Katherine Hernandez has bid adieu to the show already. Fans won’t get to see her in the upcoming season and recently she has given her take on why she left the show.

Why Did Barbie Ferreira Quit Euphoria?

Katherine Hernandez’s character gave a new perspective to the audience and broke the stereotype of how healthy women have been depicted for years. Over the years, plus-size characters have been used for comedic purposes, which is quite wrong. But in Euphoria, Barbie Ferreira’s character is depicted as a confident and charming woman on screen, who isn’t ashamed to embrace her body.

Last year, she announced on her Instagram handle about quitting the Zendaya-led hit series. Back then the reason was still unclear but now finally Ferreira has shared her side of the story. There were also rumors of the Unpregnant actress’s conflicts with the show’s creator. In the previous seasons, fans have even complained about less screentime of Kat. But Ferreira acknowledged by saying, ” There’s a huge cast. So we’ll see everyone. Everyone gets their time.”

After her sudden departure, fans haven’t still gotten the real reason behind it. But in a recent interview at Armchair Expert Podcast, she revealed that many people have come at her saying that she was a victim in the past season. But she has always denied it and promised that the show was good.

“I kind of got sucked into this drama that I never asked to be in and that I’ve never talked about. I’m of the mindset that if it doesn’t exist I’m not going to address it because then I’m adding fuel to it. It’s taken on a life of its own. Don’t believe everything you read.”

She set the record straight on the false rumors, that she never walked out of the sets. Her departure was a mutual decision between her and the makers to end the story of Kat. As they felt her story couldn’t lead anywhere else and as both parties were aware of it, they made the decision.

“I don’t think there was a place for [Kat] to go,” she said. “I think there were places she could have gone. I just don’t think it would have fit into the show. I don’t know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that.”

She didn’t want to continue portraying the character of the ” Fat best friend” and even the makers didn’t want that for her. She didn’t feel good seeing her character struggle with getting a good plot and upsetting the viewers. The filming of season 3 will start later this year.
