Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power had a rocky start while competing with House of the Dragon. Although the series garnered great praise and love for staying true to the legacy of J.R.R. Tolkien, it wasn’t as successful as the people had hoped.
A recent announcement, however, has the people hyped up for the upcoming second season of the fantasy show. The second season of The Rings of Power will have an all-female directing team for the people to admire.
The Rings of Power Will Have An All-Female Directing Team
The Rings of Power depicts the story of Galadriel and Sauron’s return and the creation of Mordor and what follows. While it had its problems, the adaptation was successful in staying true to the legacy left behind by the author, J.R.R. Tolkien.

With a thrilling ending to the first season, the second season will delve deeper into the lore and history of the books with an added bonus. It was recently revealed that Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, and Louise Hooper will combine their skills in an all-female directing team. Charlotte Brändström had already directed 2 episodes of the first season while Sanaa Hamri is known for The Wheel of Time. Louise Hooper will also be joining the team, having directed a few episodes of Netflix’s The Sandman and The Witcher.
With an all-female direction team, fans of the series took to Twitter to hype up the second season even further and hope for more improvements on the show.
Suffice it to say, fans will have quite a time when the second season of The Rings of Power drops. Charlotte Brändström directed the 6th and 7th episodes of the first season which featured the big battle scene and the eruption of Mount Doom. The episodes had been one of the favorites of the fans and they would surely expect more from her moving further.
Lord of the Rings Actor Reacts To The Rings of Power
With a plethora of mixed reviews, The Rings of Power somewhat lagged behind HBO’s House of the Dragon. Many actors from the original The Lord of the Rings movies watched the series and gave their opinions on the Internet.
One of the actors who watched the series was Billy Boyd. The actor portrayed the role of Pippin in the original trilogy and had nothing but praise for the series. Loving the deep dive into the world of J.R.R. Tolkien, here’s what Boyd had to say about The Rings of Power.
“I, as a fan of Tolkien, I loved seeing all these places again — some of them for the first time. You know, to see Khazad-dûm and Númenor and all these places. I think that gave me the most joy. I think the way they jump from one place to another made it very watchable for me.”
The actor continued,
“I think, ‘Oh, here we are in Númenor’ and then it would jump to the caverns of Khazad-dûm. I loved that. And, seeing things like the rings for the first time — all of that is just really joyful for me. I loved it!”
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to premiere by late 2023 or spring 2024 as the production goes into full swing. The first season of The Rings of Power is available to stream on Prime Video.
