Actor Ncuti Gatwa shared his reaction to working alongside Ryan Gosling on Barbie. He received favorable reviews for his breakthrough performance as Eric Effiong in Sex Education before being chosen as the next Doctor in Doctor Who.
Gatwa admitted that he was having issues with his confidence for the first month of filming the Margot Robbie-starring movie Barbie because he couldn’t get past his fear of speaking to anybody on the set. One possible reason for his hesitation might be the stellar cast in the movie. However, later Gatwa revealed that it was when meeting Ryan Gosling when he felt star-struck.

Speaking with Elle Magazine, the Sex Education star confessed:
“I was so nervous I hardly spoke for the first month [on set]. There was a time when I was talking to Greta and I turned around and Ryan Gosling was looking at me, and his eyes were so blue that I just… fell over. I just drowned in his eyes.”

The Rwandan-Scottish actor continued by calling the set of Barbie “the most kind, empathetic set I’ve ever been on.” Later on, the Barbie actor was able to gain a grip on his emotions and enjoy the filming experience more. He told Elle magazine:
“We played So Solid Crew and all these old-school garage tunes, then we got to Magic Mike and all screamed our faces off at the incredible dancers.” Then we all went to [London nightclub] The Box… The group chat the next day was lit.”
