Netizens recall The Amazing Spiderman 2’s box office disaster
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s budget was $100 million and reportedly the movie has earned $500 million at the box office. The recent box office collection of the movie has also reminded fans of the 2014 film The Amazing Spiderman 2. Even though Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were the lead actors in the film, unfortunately, the Marc Webb film fell flat with viewers.
Garfield’s The Amazing Spiderman 2 brought in $709 million worldwide. Fans reportedly believe that since Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently performing well at the global box office, there is a chance that it could surpass the box office earnings of the 2014 Spiderman movie. Netizens penned down their thoughts online and some wrote, welcome to the Spiderman curse, others wrote there is a chance the 2023 movie will do much better than the 39-year-old actor’s movie.
The Amazing Spiderman 2 is the lowest-grossing Spiderman movie
Several reasons contributed to The Amazing Spiderman 2’s lowest-earning box office collection. The Social Network actor’s Superhero movie became one of the lowest-grossing Spiderman movies. The third part of the movie was canceled reportedly because of the controversial Sony hack but the movie’s earnings also disappointed the makers. When Garfield was asked how he felt when he was abandoned by Sony, the actor said,
“I don’t know if I had an expectation of doing more. I was very open to it being whatever it was meant to be. But there was an undone feeling. Like, What was that experience about? And how do I close that circle in my living room on my own?
He further added,
And I was doing that and then it was like that classic thing, when you’re getting over a relationship, and you’re first starting to really feel free and untethered from that thing the person knows to call the hour after the first good night’s sleep you’ve had.”
For the Mainstream actor, this news came as a shock. Tom Holland replaced the 39-year-old actor. The 27-year-old actor also stated that he regrets the way he handled the situation of replacing Garfield. Both actors were seen together in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
