The deal is done. Earlier this morning, shareholders at 21st Century Fox and Disney voted to approve Disney’s $71.3 billion buyout of major Fox assets.
Variety reports that seperate meetings took place at the New York Hilton to vote on the historic transaction that the companies first set back in December. Both meetings were brief, lasting less than 15 minutes.
The merger is expected to be completed in the first half of 2019. Disney is expecting to make full use of the IP’s under Fox’s umbrella, including Marvel’s X-Men and Fantastic Four, Avatar, Aliens, Predator, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and more.
