Actor Johnny Depp has been a part of the entertainment industry for roughly four decades now. Despite personal controversies, Depp’s talent and commitment to his roles have been acknowledged with numerous awards and nominations throughout his career.

His portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series made him famous among the newer generations and he became a worldwide sensation. However, Disney decided to fire him in the late 2010s due to the allegations of domestic abuse. Now, as per a source, Depp is open to working with them once again but are the fans happy with the decision?

Johnny Depp played Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise

Actor Johnny Depp was the face of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. His role as Captain Jack Sparrow catapulted him to global stardom. His work as the quirky and unpredictable pirate earned him a Golden Globe Award as well as an Academy Award nomination.

In 2020, Depp announced that he will not play Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Due to several legal and personal controversies, Disney decided to remove the actor from the franchise.

Johnny Depp’s fans don’t want him to return

A source claims that Depp doesn’t mind reprising the character, however, his fans don’t want him to do that, mainly because Disney betrayed him and didn’t believe him.

Many fans of the franchise were also happy with the announcement as the actor is very deeply associated with the character. No other Hollywood star can meet the expectations set by Depp.

Will Johnny Depp return as Captain Jack Sparrow?

An exclusive source previously told People magazine that Depp is thinking about reprising the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. The source said,

“Anything is possible. If it’s the right project, he’ll do it.”

The primary reason behind Depp’s removal from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was his highly publicized legal fight against his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard. In 2016, Heard accused Depp of domestic violence, which led to their divorce. The court battle shed a negative light on Depp.
