The Star-wars franchise has been constantly adding to its storylines. After Disney acquired the franchise, recent projects like The Mandalorian, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi have all been making a buzz in the Star Wars fandom. Recent news suggests that the upcoming projects of Star Wars are tweaking the cinematography and storytelling, as Disney has hired a new intimacy director. This could be an indication that the franchise has taken under consideration the critical comments on Reddit and Quora which have been in and about for a while now.
Star Wars: Acolyte – All You Need to Know
The Acolyte is a prequel to the original trilogy, set to be centered around the dark side, during the last days of The High Republic era, where a one-time Padawan meets her Jedi master and traces a string of crimes, which unfurls the road to malice and darkness. Fans speculate it to follow the Sith and Jedi playing cat and mouse throughout the series. There have been few behind the scene pictures of the making, which further increases excitement, as fans wait for this release.
So far Disney has named its cast with 9 interesting actors in The Acolyte, although their roles haven’t been disclosed.
Amanda Stenberg, an Emmy-Award-winning actress for her part in the Hunger Games, South Korean actor Lee-Jung Jae for his impressive role in The Squid Games, Many Jacinto who plays Jason in The Good Place, Dafne Keen from Logan, Jodie-Turner Smith who is famous for her role in True Blood, Rebecca Henderson and Charlie Barnett who have both starred in director Leslye Headland’s Russian Doll, Dean-Charles Chapman from Game Of Throne who plays Tommen Baratheon, and the famed Carrie-Anne Moss who plays played Trinity in The Matrix are all part of The Acolyte cast.
The project is yet another addition to the High Republic Era of Star Wars which has been very well received in its comic book editions.
To add to this, news of a new intimacy coordinator, Adelaide Waldrop being appointed to choreograph intimate scenes for upcoming projects of the franchise is also afloat. She has worked as an intimacy coordinator with Warner Brothers, Paramount, HBO, Netflix, and Disney+ in her career. This doesn’t necessarily indicate explicit scenes, but rather the promise that the production has more than just action and space thrill in their plans.
All Upcoming Star Wars Projects
Disney has already showcased new projects like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor. The fandom has feasted on these releases so far and is eager for what the franchise has to offer in the future. A 14-week gap between releases is a debatable trend that Disney and Star Wars have followed so far, so we can expect the following to release in the same order.
Along with The Acolyte, Lando revolves around the Star Wars character, Lando Calrissian, initially played by Donald Glover in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Ahsoka Series is the tale of Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Padawan who helped forge a force against the Galactic Empire. The show is set in The Mandalorian universe and the time after Star Wars: Rebels with an interesting storyline with huge potential. However, there is very limited information available on the progress.
Skeleton Crew seems to set a different vibe as compared to other releases. It is a show that revolves around kids but does not target kids as an audience. The production has not teased much about the show of late but we can confirm that it will be part of The Mandalorian setting, starring Jude Law. Along with this, there is an untitled Star Wars project that will be written and directed by Taiki Waititi, who also directed the first-season finale of The Mandalorian. A Droid Story is an animated project that has the narrative of the robots R2D2 and C3PO. An interesting project that is also named at this point is bt Marvel’s Kevin Feige, who is set to direct a new Star Wars movie hoping to have the same grandeur as Marvel movies.
Is Disney Going Overboard With Star Wars?
Although this topic is a debate so far, Disney certainly has upset some of the older fans, while trying to ‘Disney-fy’ the franchise. Rogue One was considered a good attempt across the entire fandom, but things started looking shaky thereafter. The fans from Star Wars: Trilogy sense that Disney is trying to focus on a younger and newer audience since they have taken a segway from what Lucas Films has created.
But with so many new exciting projects and the hiring of new talent on the way, fans on both sides of the line are hopeful and eager for what the almost 40-year-old franchise has to offer in the near future.
