Over the past couple of days, Diablo 4 developer Blizzard has received quite a lot of backlash from gamers over their recent update to Diablo 4, which came with the new Season Of The Malignant, which is currently taking place; most of this controversy is in regards to changes made to specific classes that can be selected in the game, but these aren’t the only changes that were made to the popular game.
What changes were made to Diablo 4 in this patch and why are they bad?
In patch 1.1.0 for Diablo 4, we received a brand new season with a whole new story, end-game activities and rewards, but unfortunately, these weren’t the only things to come in the new season as the game also received plenty of nerfs in regards to character stats, character builds, character abilities and just in general systems that take place in the game world behind the scenes, which has made a lot of gamers quite upset with Blizzard.
Involved in this new patch was a complete nerf of both the Sorcerer and Barbarian, two of the five playable classes in Diablo 4, which angered a lot of gamers, but what made it worse was that Sorcerers were already relatively weak in regards to survivability, especially in end-game activities. Sadly this got a lot worse after the current patch, which has left a lot of gamers rather upset, hoping that this will get changed.
Another change that came in this new update was in regard to end-game activities and XP rewards, which sadly had a lot of changes. Still, not for the better, as when the new season started, there was a glitch with Helltide activities which left it so players wouldn’t be able to get the Helltide-only currency which helped them open chests for loot which was patched day one of the new season.
Whilst Nightmare Dungeons had been made tougher, but had their XP rewards lowered especially between player level 50 and 100 which made the slow grind even slower causing a lot of gamers to dislike this change demanding a change to resolve this issue.
What has Blizzard said about this feedback to the new Diablo 4 patch?
For all of these flaws that are currently circulating within Diablo 4, Blizzard and the head developers of Diablo 4 have put their hands in the air and said, “We don’t plan on doing a patch like this again. We hear you loud and clear.” as they are owning this mistake which has been made and is currently working on a fix for the issues mentioned above, so far this fix won’t be coming for awhile. Still, we will be getting more information on July 28th during their live Campfire chat, which will be used to heavily delve deep into the fixes in their next patch.
So far, all we know for this future patch is that Sorcerers will be getting fixed so that they have a lot more survivability and that they will be working towards giving nightmare dungeons a lot more density in the hordes of monsters that are awaiting players, whilst also fixing, in general, the toughness of nightmare dungeons as currently the most challenging difficulty which is tier 100 feels like such a struggle that most players cannot complete them.
So the developers are looking to reduce the toughness so that it is more reasonable for players as they do not want players to feel like it is a full-time job just to get to level 100 as they have stated:
“We want level 100 to feel like an achievement, not feel like a job,”
