Despite Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn in Joker 2, James Gunn Wants Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad Sequel? Industry Insider Gives Positive Update

The possibility of Margot Robbie playing Quinn in any movie, or more specifically, whether the actress would be involved in the DCU at all, has piqued the curiosity of fans. Prior to Gunn’s 2021 soft reboot of The Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie made her debut as Harley Quinn in David Ayer’s 2016 film Suicide Squad. She later reprised the role in 2020’s Birds of Prey.

Fans adore seeing Robbie in this role. But when it came out that Lady Gaga, not Margot Robbie, would play Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel, they were in for both a surprise and a shock. However, a new rumor is claiming that she will return as the character.

Will Margot Robbie Return to DCU?

Margot Robbie has been one of DC Films’ best performers in recent years, bringing to life one of the most popular comic book and animated characters. However, fans were not happy that Lady Gaga would be playing the renowned character in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux.

When asked if fans will ever see Margot Robbie in her enduring DC role again, James Gunn, co-CEO of the DC Studios and the man behind the franchise reboot, broke his silence.

It now appears that Margot Robbie will return to the DC Universe after all, following a fresh claim from internet scooper MyTimeToShineHello.

After the recent drought in DCU, James Gunn will be doing his best to bring the studio back on track. After Barbie’s huge success, it’s no surprise that Gunn will surely look for Margot Robbie as her demand and image both soar.

James Gunn about Margot Robbie’s Future in The DCU

The Suicide Squad, which featured Harley Quinn’s most recent live-action appearance, marked James Gunn and Robbie’s first collaboration. Since then, the director has been outspoken about how much he adores the character for which he enjoys writing, directing, and creating stories.

On Twitter, one user asked Gunn whether Robbie would play Quinn in any movie, “Would you work with Margot Robbie again?” the American filmmaker replied, “For sure”.

Margot Robbie has not yet been cast in any of the DC movies that are slated to be released in 2023. Audiences cannot be certain that the director planned to use Robbie as Harley Quinn in a DC project or any other movie, as Gunn did not say whether he plans to play Margot as the DC supervillain or in a completely new capacity and project,
