We obviously don’t have any idea as of now about how long the new Demolition Man movie is in the making. And the fact that the industry has essentially been at a standstill for now doesn’t help either. However, it certainly sounds like the sequel has inspired more than just casual talks and conversations! Stallone said that things are “looking fantastic,” which suggests that they’ve probably done some story/script work already.

Revisiting Demolition Man 1993

Released in theaters in 1993, the original Demolition Man starred Stallone as a Los Angeles police officer, John Spartan, set in the year 1996. Spartan resorted to ignoring protocols to hunt down a notorious criminal named Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes). Because of this, Spartan lands in into prison alongside the criminal he takes down. As the story progresses, both Spartan and Phoenix become cryogenically frozen and wake up in 2032, to a world without crime. Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock) teams up with Spartan to catch a now-escaped Phoenix, because modern police haven’t received training to take care of serious crime.

Directed by Marco Brambilla, Demolition Man owes its scripting to Daniel Waters, Robert Reneau, and Peter M. Lenkov.

Are you excited about a Demolition Man sequel? Will all the stars find a way to return for the second movie? Let us know in the comments!
