DCEU Leaves Marvel in the Dust as Black Adam Soars High With Positive Early Reactions

With both cinematic universes starting around 2010, the Marvel Cinematic Universe fared far better than DC Extended Universe. The DCEU started with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill as Superman.

On the other hand, the MCU had a far more risky investment with Iron Man in 2008. It starred Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, a character not as popular as Clark Kent, but Iron Man fared far better than Man of Steel, launching MCU into immense popularity.

Will Black Adam save DCEU?

After the failure of the Justice League and the controversial removal of Zack Snyder from his directorial role, the DCEU’s future is murky at best. Though now it seems like there is a ray of hope with Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson.

The success of Black Adam also ensures more sequels in the DCEU, with Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate becoming a fan favorite already. Even though The Flash is under a lot of scrutiny due to the lead star Ezra Miller‘s long list of controversies, 2022 could be the year when DCEU finally turns things around.

Will DC finally trump Marvel?

Even though DC Comics has found more success in the television sector with The Flash and Green Arrow, they have suffered in the Cinematic sector, where Marvel has excelled. But as the MCU enters phase 4, it seems like Marvel is finally slipping.

Having learned from their past mistakes, DC Comics seems to be moving in the right direction, allowing standalone films to do their own thing, as Joker and The Batman were well received. But Marvel insists on sticking to the interconnect universe which seems to be working against it now.

Black Adam is set to release on October 21 of 2022.
