Remember when Black Adam dropped in October last year to expectations that were set above the sky? It didn’t meet those expectations, as far as anyone can see now, but it also made the rivaling Marvel Cinematic Universe fans very happy. However, Ant-Man 3‘s release has turned the tables this time around.
The latest installation in the massive catalog of superhero movies that the MCU has is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and it’s not performing as well as you’d expect a movie from Marvel Studios to perform. Everyone has their day, and fans of the DC Universe are quite blessed to see rival fans suffer as well.
Ant-Man 3 Breaks Another Record For All The Wrong Reasons, DCU Fans Rejoice
Ant-Man 3 is the first release of the massive movies that have been planned ahead for release this year from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is also the third movie in the Ant-Man movie series that comes under the MCU as well, and it’s quite shocking to see a Marvel Studios production doing this badly at the box office.
After reports of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania possibly not even besting the opening record of its two predecessor movies came out just recently, fans of the MCU could do nothing but hang their heads in shame. Meanwhile, the fans over at DC Universe were celebrating this indirect victory.
And now, Ant-Man 3 is set to break another record- and it’s not a good look. Ironically, this would be giving DCU fans more reasons to make fun of it because the Paul Rudd-starring movie has dropped 69.7% in only the second weekend ever since its release.
This also means that it has now successfully(although that was not the intention) dethroned the DCU’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as the movie that has seen such a large second-weekend drop that opened above 100 million at the box office.
And yes, DCU fans have picked up on Ant-Man 3‘s failure, and they couldn’t be louder on Twitter-
A somewhat neutral opinion-
Yep-
Banter after banter-
Throwback to this meme! –
What goes around comes around, and DCU fans are surely going to have the last laugh, MCU fans would not hope for it to be so.
What Could Ant-Man 3‘s Stagnating Performance Mean For The Remaining Phase Five Projects?
After having an ironic record-breaking failure right in front of the rivaling franchise as well as failing to beat the record that the first movie in the series set, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a lot to worry about for the coming year.
Ant-Man 3 was not doing too well among critics either, ranking below average ratings from huge review websites like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb. Now the MCU will be looking to make sure that the upcoming release Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, does enough to satisfy fans who are clearly disappointed as of now.
Fans can, however, keep being optimistic considering the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be directed by James Gunn again(the third time!), and he has always delivered.
