After being bashed for the undeniably horrific 2011 film Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds thought it would be best if he switched colors. Having already experienced the character with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds wished he could turn it around with a new approach. A more comic-accurate approach.
So, that explains the red. He jumped into the iconic Deadpool spandex and with this one, we could finally forget how mentally disturbing his earlier appearance as Wade Wilson was.
He hit the bulls-eye with his performance that looked straight out of the comics. But, every superhero needs a loving lady by his side, right? And it was the love story in the film that put all the heart into it and set the tone.
While we wish we had a mind-blowing love and chemistry like that in our lives, the lead actors have an entirely different story to tell.
DC Actress Hard A Hard Time Kissing Ryan Reynolds
Who can believe after seeing Deadpool that while Ryan Reynolds probably had the time of his life filming those steamy scenes with the beautiful Morena Baccarin (Gotham), the latter struggled with them?
Baccarin was the most uncomfortable when she was asked to film all the awkward s*x and kissing scenes, as Reynolds’ character smelled of rubber from miles away.
“I keep saying that kissing him in that mask is like kissing a giant latex co**om. It basically just smells like rubber the entire time.”
Morena Baccarin Couldn’t Connect With Ryan Reynolds
Filming those intense love sequences requires a connection between the lead actors, but that wasn’t the case with Baccarin.
As Reynolds had to be in his spandex for the most part of the film, he had to keep his mask on, and that interfered with that as she wanted to look him in the eyes.
“He was a trooper. I feel like, when I looked at his face, it was harder to connect with him, with the person, because of his mask.”
Ryan Reynolds’ Oozing Face Left Morena Baccarin Traumatized
It had been such a terrible experience according to the Homeland actor to see the messed up and ugly face Ryan Reynolds had to put up, as his character had suffered the harmful effects of the mutant serum.
The make-up team took hours to finally prepare his moist and radiated face. Baccarin told Desde Hollywood how crazy his face looked with all those patterns that made it look like a diseased face.
“I got to kiss that?” Baccarin said. “There was red stuff coming out but it was all very alive, it was ‘oozing.’ But that’s what was beautiful about them that they’re going to make it.”
With the recently released BTS photos of the upcoming Deadpool 3, we can expect some intense comic-accurate action as Hugh Jackman dons his iconic yellow suit. The film will mark its official entry into the MCU on May 3, 2024.
