Daredevil: Born Again Hires Dexter Director for 18 Part Series After Confirming Jon Bernthal Returning as The Punisher

Charlie Cox is all set to reprise his popular Marvel character, Daredevil, in the upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. The production for the series is expected to start this month in New York, and the latest updates regarding the series have fans excited about what the Daredevil reboot has in store for them. Jon Bernthal has been confirmed to return as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, and Dexter director Michael Cuesta has joined the project as its director.

Michael Cuesta to Direct Daredevil: Born Again

Followed by his brief appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdoch will return in Daredevil: Born Again. With the return of the man without fear, fans are also expecting the other characters to join him in the new series. So far, Vincent D’Onofrio and Jon Bernthal have been confirmed to reprise their respective roles in the upcoming series.

And the new update about the show has revealed that the American film and television director, Michael Cuesta, has joined the Marvel project as its director. Reports claim that Cuesta will be directing the pilot episode of the 18-part series and the studio is still lining up the directors for the other episodes.

Marvel has not been able to deliver the best of its work since the 2019 film, Avengers: Endgame. Michael Cuesta, known for independent films and his work on dark and twisted characters, is expected to present the perfect pilot episode for the series. The first episode will certainly have a very important role in holding on the audience and fans to the series.

And Michael Cuesta, who has delivered some of his best work with the pilot episodes of shows like Dexter, Homeland, and Blue Blood, could also add Daredevil: Born Again to his long list. The news comes after Jill Blankenship and Grainne Godfree were revealed to join the writer’s room for the upcoming Disney+ series.

The First Major Recast For Disney+’s Daredevil

Some of the cast members of Netflix’s Daredevil have been confirmed to reprise their respective roles in the Disney reboot of the show. However, fans are expecting to see more actors from the 2015 science fiction series join the Disney reboot.

But two major characters from the series, Elden Henson, who portrayed Foggy Nelson, and Deborah Ann Woll, who portrayed Karen Page, will reportedly not feature in the Disney reboot. However, it is not confirmed if the studio has recast the two characters or not.

Other than these two, Marvel Studios has recast Vanessa Fisk for the upcoming series. Ayelet Zurer was originally cast alongside Vincent D’Onofrio’s character for the Netflix original. However, the studio has cast Sandrine Holt as the new Vanessa Fisk for the Disney+ series.

Daredevil: Born Again is set to release on Disney+ in the Spring of 2024.
