For 23 years, Daniel Radcliffe is recognized as Harry Potter around the globe, but did you know that this was not his real name in the Harry Potter series?
Well, whose name would you like to change if you could, among the characters from the Harry Potter series? What new name would you prefer, and why? The Harry Potter books contain a lot of secrets. A book about the wizarding world is never complete without spilling horrifying information about its universe’s past. Nearly every significant character in the series is hiding something at some point.
In case you forgot (which we don’t think), Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter, Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson acted as Hermione Granger.
So, it is time to dispel some of that movie’s magic, now that we have looked at the little-known facts about Harry Potter that are very difficult to ignore.
Daniel Radcliffe Was Almost Named Harry Bratt?
The Harry Potter universe, or Potterverse as it is now known, is a made-up magical world that J.K. Rowling created with her books in the 1990s. Both human and non-human characters share the same space in it.
Harry Potter and his friends learned their craft in this secret realm of magical creatures. The first movie (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) was released in 2001, and since then, fans all over the world have been enamored with the series.
Are you a true Harry Potter fan? Do you know that Daniel Radcliffe almost went by the name Harry Bratt before becoming famous as Harry Potter?
Actually, Rowling chose the name because she liked it and chose the first name (Harry) in tribute to the famous magician, Harry Houdini (who died on October 31, 1926). As she could not think of anything better at the time, she wrote the last name as Bratt.
But one issue she brought up with the publisher was that the name lacked any rings. She ultimately decided on Harry Potter because she thought it sounded much better.
Emma Watson Also Almost Had An Embarrassing Name
Emma Watson, who rose to fame after portraying Hermione Granger in the beloved Harry Potter movies, has honed her acting abilities over time. Without a doubt, Granger was a major contributor to her burgeoning career.
However, her beloved character initially received a strange, even—you can call it an embarrassing name.
Watson’s character was initially going to go by the name Hermione Huckle. JK Rowling chose the name because she wanted something distinctive that would stick in people’s minds.
Hermione was portrayed by ten-year-old Emma Watson in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which also happened to be her very first film. She was extremely inexperienced and eager, in other words. She reportedly memorized not only her own lines but also those of the actors she was sharing scenes with, as she revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! episode.
Thousands of young people auditioned for the roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively, and the then-unknown British actors, Watson and Rupert Grint were chosen from those. They had only performed in school plays up until that point. When they were cast, the Beauty and the Beast actress was ten years old while Grint was only eleven.
The series’ seventh and last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was turned into two full-length films. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 was made available in November 2010, and Part 2 in July 2011.
