Is Emilia Clarke making a comeback in Game of Thrones universe? Well, the last viewers checked, Clarke’s character Daenerys Targaryen was killed by Jon Snow. So the answer to this question should be pretty obvious. However, there are unsubstantiated rumors that Daenerys might be resurfacing in the rumored spin-off centered around Jon Snow.
And since then rumors surrounding her return became a matter of debate. Some suggested that Daenerys was carried away by her dragon, Drogon, to potentially find the help of a Red Priestess. A few others expressed their disappointment with the potential return.
Emilia Clarke opened up about her take on Daenerys Targaryen’s death
Interestingly, Emilia Clarke herself has expressed skepticism about her character’s return to the Game of Thrones universe. This is evident from her June 2023 interview with Extra, where Clarke playfully remarked, “I don’t think so,” addressing Kit Harington, her former GOT co-star, and humorously adding, “FYI, you killed me… spoiler alert!”
Moreover, during one of her media interactions with DIF London in September 2022, Clarke lightheartedly addressed the rumors, even suggesting an alternate ending for her character. However, even though she does not regret Daenerys’ actions, she does feel that her character didn’t deserve to die, while Jon Snow got to live
“I still think Daenerys did nothing wrong. It’s not fair that Jon gets to live. I want Daenerys with him. With Jon. They could go to family therapy and fix their issues. Daenerys is a very hopeful character, she has a lot of hopes and I wished that she was able to achieve that.”
Furthermore, the Me Before You actress joked that maybe the only good way for Daenerys to return could be as an undead White Walker.
Here’s all that there is to know about the Jon Snow Spinoff
Reportedly, the Game of Thrones spinoff centered around Jon Snow is currently in the early stages of development. There’s no doubt that the conclusion of Game of Thrones left the fans divided. However, it looks like the Jon Snow spinoff can finally help the fans deal with their mixed emotions.
Prior to this, most of the spinoffs, including House of Dragon predated the War of the Five Kings, set years before the era of Jon Snow. While there aren’t many updates on the spinoff yet, GOT star Liam Cunningham revealed in his conversation with Variety that he texted GOT’s Jon Snow Kit Harington with a quip.
“I did send [Kit] a text saying, ‘Better Call Davos. I haven’t heard anything back. You probably know more than I do. I wish them the best to whoever’s involved in it, and if the check is big enough, I might even show up again!”
However, it is important to note that HBO has not yet confirmed any topics surrounding the spinoff.
