According to Mickey Rapkin’s feature in Elle, Alexander Skarsgård, known for his role in the TV series True Blood, had a truly bohemian upbringing. Growing up in a vibrant neighborhood in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of renowned actor Stellan Skarsgard—famous for his appearance in Mamma Mia!—experienced a childhood immersed in a world of art, actors, and musicians. Stellan would frequently host lively gatherings for local artists, fostering an atmosphere of creativity and revelry.
Recalling those days, Skarsgård, now 46, describes them as “pretty wild,” often finding himself dozing off under the table as the festivities carried on until the early hours of the morning. He humorously reflects that he may have even been unintentionally influenced by the secondhand smoke, jokingly suggesting he was “stoned” in his own way. As a teenager, however, Skarsgård sometimes felt a sense of unease or awkwardness due to his parents’ carefree and unconventional lifestyle.
Alexander Skarsgård’s Father Would Roam Around The House Naked With A Glass Of Red Wine
In a video on YouTube, Alexander Skarsgård recalls his teenage years. He reveals that he was 14 years old when he saw his dad wearing pants for the first time. Well, that’s quite a feat.
“I think I was 14 the first time I saw my dad wearing pants, so….”
Stellan Skarsgård did it so often that even his kids’ friends had to see him naked most of the time. But it was still cool till only their guy friends saw the imagery. Things got pretty weird and awkward when the Skarsgårds started growing up and the family started having girls come over to their house. The Skarsgård brothers literally had to request their free-willed father to cover up when they would be bringing their girlfriends over to their house. He said –
“We had a talk with dad when we were teens, we were like dad like when we bring girls over, could you just please put on a robe or something like you’re scaring them!”
Though it may seem a bit distasteful, Alexander Skarsgård also iterates that nudity is quite well accepted in Sweden. Even more than the USA.
Stellan Skarsgård Has A Relaxed Relationship With Nudity
In a candid revelation, 72-year-old actor Stellan Skarsgård shared his comfort with nudity and his “relaxed relationship” with his private parts. According to an interview with the New York Post’s Page Six column, Skarsgård disclosed his penchant for walking around his home in the nude. He fondly recalled a childhood incident where he debunked the myth of storks delivering babies, opting to enlighten his school friends about the true origins of life. With a carefree attitude, Skarsgård remarked,
“I walk around naked at home. When school friends thought storks brought babies, I told them how they were really made. I have a very relaxed relationship with my genitals.”
Additionally, the actor playfully mentioned that he often finds himself mistaken for fellow Hollywood star Liam Neeson, adding a humorous touch to the conversation.
