After years of anticipation, the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is finally coming to a close. Since the first installment was released back in 2014, the franchise has built up a massive fanbase. Starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, the third installment is slightly different from the first two.
Director James Gunn has introduced a slight change in tone, which was revealed when the soundtrack for the film was released recently. The film has shifted away from 80s pop music and has a more gritty, dark approach. The third installment of the franchise allows a deeper look into Rocket’s troublesome past. This development has had fans on edge with anticipation. After almost a decade, it feels as though the film has also grown along with the audience.
James Gun Hints Guardians Of The Galaxy Cast’s DCU Debut
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 being his last Marvel project, James Gunn is set to make his departure from Marvel Studios memorable. In an exclusive interview with Empire Magazine, the director revealed that he has a special bond with the cast, and he intends to reunite with them one day with his new role at DC Studios.
“This cast are like my family,” Gunn said in his exclusive interview with Empire Magazine. “I cannot tell you how close I am to Chris Pratt and Pom[Klementieff] and Dave [Bautista] and Zoe [Saldaña] and Karen [Gillan]. But I also know I will work again with all those people individually again,” he added. “Probably at my other job.”
While the director did not reveal any further details or insight, fans were quick to jump to conclusions. James Gunn has recently joined DC Studios as co-chairman and CEO along with Peter Safran. The duo has outlined a plan for the DCU that spans nearly a decade. Knowing this, Marvel and DC fans were sent into a frenzy wondering what roles the Guardians of the Galaxy actors could take up. They took to Twitter to brainstorm potential roles for each of the actors.
James Gunn Bids Heartfelt Goodbye to Marvel Studios
As the iconic Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy come to its end, James Gunn got emotional.
James Gunn expressed his feelings via Twitter,
“Finalized the sound mix for #GotGVol3 last night & I am just so incredibly excited to share this movie with everyone; I feel teary-eyed & supremely grateful for this journey. Despite the downs among the ups, what a wonderful experience these past ten years have been.”
Most people may be unaware, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was not meant to happen. Gunn’s plans for the trilogy were derailed after he got fired from Marvel Studios when some of his problematic past tweets resurfaced online.
However, with the support of fans and cast members, the director was reinstated to finish the much-anticipated trilogy.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will be released in theatres on May 5th, 2023
