Patty Jenkins and Charlize Theron worked together in the smashing hit movie Monster, which was released in 2003. Jenkins was the director of the movie and Theron played the lead part in it. For the crime drama, the 47-year-old actress took home an Oscar for Best Actress. When the Five director was casting for the movie Wonder Woman, she was reminded of the Tully actress and thought she could be a part of the cast as well. Reportedly, Jenkins offered Theron the role of Gal Gadot’s mother in the 2017 movie. While talking about the offer, the Dark Places actress said,

“This is a great example of how Hollywood slaps you in the face when you start aging. So somebody had said to me ‘There’s action on this thing Wonder Woman, we just want to make you aware of it.’ And I was like ‘I’m just not familiar with it, what does Wonder Woman do?’ And this person said ‘No, it’s for Wonder Woman’s mom.’ It’s fine, it’s the defining moment where I crossed over. And I wasn’t fully aware of it.””

Theron also made it very clear that she didn’t reject the offer because she was offended. She said, “There was a reason I couldn’t do it.” The Fast X actress said she was working on some other project when Wonder Woman was offered to her. But it did come as a shock to the Oscar winner that this was the role she was offered.

Man Max: Fury Road was a massive hit, the movie did great numbers and people loved The Road actress in it as well. In 2020, the makers of the action film announced that Theron will not be coming back as Furiosa. The South African American actress was replaced by Anya Taylor-Joy in the upcoming installment of the film series. While talking about being replaced in the Mad Max series, the actress said,

It’s a tough one to swallow. Yeah, it’s a little heartbreaking, for sure. I really love that character, and I’m so grateful that I had a small part in creating her. She will forever be someone I think of and reflect on fondly.”

Reportedly, Warner Brothers were not interested in casting the Sweet November actress as Furiosa for the 2015 movie. The reason why the entertainment company wasn’t ready to cast Theron was that she had back-to-back flop movies before she signed Mad Max.
