Luffy is the protagonist of the well-known anime and manga series One Piece, while Might Guy is one of the major supporting characters of Naruto, another well-known anime and manga franchise. Both characters are popular with their respective fan bases and beyond, for their power, positive attitude, never giving up despite seemingly insurmountable odds, and for bringing a sense of levity to otherwise serious, and life-threatening situations.
Pitting characters from different franchises against each other is the pipe dream for many fans, and fans of Naruto and One Piece are no different. Apart from debating and arguing over which series is better, they also discuss which of their favorite characters is stronger. In this case, we’ll talk about the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates Monkey D. Luffy, and Konoha’s Blue Beast Might Guy.
Who would win in a fight between Might Guy and Monkey D. Luffy?
Assuming that neither Might Guy nor Luffy knows about each other’s strengths and weaknesses, especially about the Eight Gates and Gear 5, the fight will start on an equal footing. Guy only opens all Eight Gates as a last resort, which he will probably have to do against Luffy in his Gear 5 form.

Also worth noting is that Guy is more experienced than Luffy, having fought in multiple wars and he nearly killed Madara Uchiha when the latter had the powers of the Sage of the Six Paths, which made him akin to a god. Furthermore, Guy is a better strategist than Luffy, who fights more on instinct and is not known for being the deepest thinker with intricately thought-out plans. Hence, it is highly unlikely that he would have the idea of waiting till Guy’s Eight Gates transformation finishes, and then attack. Instead, he would likely be excited to see and fight Guy at full strength, when Guy is practically invincible.
It is because of these reasons that Might Guy will probably defeat Monkey D. Luffy.
Guy’s Eight Gates and Luffy’s Gear 5 explained
There are eight chakra gates in the world of Naruto, and with each gate he opens, different physical and mental attributes are unlocked to their highest power. Because of the gates opening, Guy’s physical and mental capacities, as well as chakra amounts, are boosted significantly. Opening the eighth and final gate is a gambit, though, since it places great strain on him and he can’t keep it open for too long.
Meanwhile, Luffy’s Gear 5 is the fifth form of his Devil Fruit, the Gomu Gomu no Mi or the Gum-Gum Fruit in English. It strengthens his rubbery body and powers, even allowing him to affect and transform his environment. In fact, the power has been described by the Five Elders as being “the most ridiculous power in the world”. He can also do seemingly ridiculous, cartoonish, and impossible things with this power. However, it uses up a lot of his power to maintain and he is still inexperienced with its usage.
