Call of Duty is a first-person shooter (FPS) franchise that is amongst the most popular in the gaming world, and the next game is never too far as there is one every year. Known for being the bestselling FPS franchise ever, as ratified by Guinness World Records, the series is also the most successful video game franchise from the United States in terms of revenue earned.
Like many other upcoming games, Call of Duty is no stranger to leaks and rumors, and the latest rumor suggests that the next game in the series, Modern Warfare 3, might be doing something different with its multiplayer beta.
What could the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta give us a look at?
According to Call of Duty leaker HeyImAlaix on Twitter/X, there will be a beta for the Zombies mode in Modern Warfare 3. With previous games in the series, there is usually a beta that lets players try out the multiplayer mode of the upcoming game for anywhere between one month to one and a half months.

That is a good way for the developers to test out the upcoming Call of Duty game, with its servers, balancing, bugs, glitches, and other factors being explored. They also use the beta as an opportunity to take note of things that they can address through patches/updates in the future. Usually, though, it’s just that, with some of the multiplayer being revealed and no additional content beyond that. But if HeyImAlaix is to be believed, this is about to change.
As with any unverified rumor or leak, this too must be taken with a grain of salt. It is expected that we will know more at Call of Duty: Next, an online event on October 5th.
How else is Modern Warfare 3 different from other games in the series?
Apart from potentially featuring a Zombie mode in the beta, there are other ways that make Modern Warfare 3 different from its predecessors. For starters, it is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2 which was released last year, and will continue the single-player story mode campaign from that game. Additionally, it will also utilize multiplayer maps from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which was released back in 2009.
There won’t be a completely new multiplayer mode in Modern Warfare 3 either, which is also new for the Call of Duty franchise. Instead, players will have to play with Modern Warfare 2’s weapons, unlocks, and more as they are being carried over to the upcoming game. The overall style should also be the same as well.
