Bungie’s Third Game In Development Will Apparently Be Comedic

For many years Bungie has been known to many gamers as the developers behind Halo and Destiny, but that looks to be changing as currently Bungie is looking for new staff to work on a game which is looking to be in development and is described to have a comedic world and setting. This tells us that Bungie is looking towards moving away from being known as a mainly FPS game company and are looking to broaden their horizons.

What information do we have regarding this upcoming game from Bungie?

Destiny is still Bungie's main money-maker.
Destiny is still Bungie’s main money-maker.

At the moment, there isn’t a lot of information to go on as they are still in the development stages for this upcoming game to the point that it doesn’t even have a title. All that is currently known is that it is an “incubation” project as Bungie has issued a tweet detailing that they are presently hiring an art director for this brand-new title which has gained a lot of interest from gamers as they are curious as to what Bungie are cooking up behind closed doors.

So far, the only information we have regarding the game that is in development by Bungie is that they have placed it in numerous different genres as it takes inspiration from a lot of different sources, which has confused a lot of players as they have stated it takes inspiration from genres like:

fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games.

Right now, there are only theories as to what Bungie could be developing; many believe that it could be similar to Fall Guys by having numerous players compete through different rounds to see who can come out on top as the winner of a tournament. Some players believe it could just be a relaxing puzzle type game that includes jumping from platform to platform, but for now, until we get more information all we can do is guess to what game we may receive in the years to come.

What has encouraged this change by Bungie?

Bungie has been busy.
Bungie has been busy.

Over the years, Bungie has been working with numerous different companies to develop games that meet their criteria, such as developing Halo for Microsoft and then moving to PlayStation and developing Destiny. Now Bungie wants to move on and do things for themselves, especially after they began taking steps to work on Destiny alone and work independently as a studio.

So far, this has worked for Bungie, but sadly they cannot rely on Halo and Destiny alone as they are already such large franchises. This is something Bungie already knows as they have already begun to develop a reboot for Marathon, but this isn’t a large jump from the games they are known for so they have decided to change their genre entirely and create a unique game that no one would see coming from Bungie, and this could be the change they need to get their name back out there.

What do you think about this upcoming game from Bungie? Will you be looking forward to Bungie’s Frog-type game that will feature so many different genres? Let us know in the comments what you think!
