Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel has graced several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, covering various points in the timeline. Fans eagerly anticipated Captain Marvel’s introduction to the MCU in its early stages. However, it wasn’t until 2014 that Marvel officially confirmed the solo film for Captain Marvel, with Brie Larson not securing the role until 2016. Her casting was officially revealed by Kevin Feige during a San Diego Comic-Con appearance, marking her as the new cornerstone of the MCU.
Captain Marvel took a unique approach to the origin story, veering away from conventional tropes. Carol Danvers’ superpowers were already established at the start of the film, as it introduced her as a member of the Kree military unit, Starforce.
What Is Captain Marvel’s Age?
Captain Marvel’s primary narrative concludes in 1995 with Carol departing Earth to assist the Skrulls, leaving a gap of several decades in her MCU presence. Her return to her home planet is depicted in the post-credits scene of Captain Marvel, which aligns with the events immediately following Avengers: Infinity War.
In 2018, Carol answered Nick Fury’s pager and reunited with the Avengers. Considering the 23-year gap, Carol would be 51 years old when Avengers: Endgame commenced. The film’s subsequent five-year leap would place Captain Marvel at the age of 56 throughout the remainder of the movie.
While there’s a chance that Carol Danvers might have a few extra years under her belt compared to our best guess, her biological age in her late 50s is inconsequential. The presence of Kree DNA coursing through her, coupled with the potent influence of the Space Stone, has significantly decelerated Captain Marvel’s physical aging process.
Even if Brie Larson’s upcoming appearance in Captain Marvel 2 takes place several years down the line, she will effortlessly retain Carol’s youthful physical appearance. Unless her powers are somehow diminished or stripped away, Captain Marvel is poised to maintain a youthful look resembling her late 20s to early 30s for the foreseeable future.
What’s Brie Larson’s Future As Captain Marvel?
For a superhero whose very name is synonymous with her own universe, the previous project has been rather underwhelming, to say the least. Therefore, in a recent issue of Total Film Magazine, director Nia DaCosta delved into the potential for a standalone Brie Larson Captain Marvel film.
Based on current indications, the outlook appears less than promising. DaCosta revealed that when she introduces fresh concepts for the movie, Kevin Feige’s responses seem to be a mix of conflicting messages. This has led her to suspect the existence of alternative strategies in progress, strategies to which she isn’t privy and in which she isn’t involved. She remarked,
“I’ll pitch Kevin 17 versions of what can happen with all these women, and why and how, and this and that. And he’s like, ‘Okay, girl’, and sometimes I think I’ve really got a movie going after this. And then other times, I’m like, ‘Oh, they have this whole other plan that I’m not a part of.'”
Hence, even though there are no solid confirmations regarding ongoing developments, the prospects for such undertakings become considerably brighter if The Marvels receives an overwhelmingly positive reception from the audience.
Captain Marvel can be streamed on Disney+.
