“You know, I remember doing this scene really well and it’s funny to see it and like used in this way because I know it is so out of context but I mean if I was a fan I would be doing exactly the same thing so bravo.”

Neil Ellice also had his say about the meme, stating that he remembers this scene very well because it was hard as they were in the stationary car and they were getting cued to look out the windows in different directions and the directors wanted a very cinematic kind of tone. Samuel Roukin further stated,

“It’s funny for us as well to see these (memes), but it is not a secret that when you shoot scenes like this you know nothing, and things barely resemble. The car (in the meme) is like a swinging music stand with a tennis ball on the end and you have to pretend to get under it. And if you get it wrong, you’re not getting under the roof of the vehicle right.”

The actors revealed that they climbed into the car like it was a real thing and imagined opening the door and other stuff. They added that it might be a one or two-minute scene but it takes much effort and requires everybody to be on the best of their game and get it right.

The Ghost Staring memes started appearing on social media out of nowhere and soon millions of people started using the hilarious meme in different contexts and situations. The meme is taken from the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022) campaign, where Ghost and Soap exchange intense glances at each other when they are in a vehicle with Alejandro Vargas and Rodolfo “Rudy” Parra.

In the scene, Soap sees some kids with guns and balloons while driving across Mexico and one of them is wearing Simon Riley’s iconic mask. Soon Soap turns around and finds Ghost staring back at him with a somewhat serious but funny look and then he says, “Kids, guns, and balloons… that’s a new one.”

This got turned into a meme and soon spread among the whole community, taking over major social media platforms. These posts got massive likes and views and made the Ghost Staring meme an astounding success with the meme making rounds on the internet.
