According to the report provided by Deadline, Maria Bakalova actress of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s been revealed that Bakalova will be playing a significant role in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3.

Maria Bakalova is an Oscar nominee who won a Critics’ Choice Award for playing the character of Tutar Sagdiyev in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020). The 24-year-old actress got recognition from the Borat sequel that paved the path for her. She has been a part of several major American productions including Judd Apatow’s The Bubble (2022) and the A24 slasher film Bodies Bodies Bodies and will now be seen in Vol 3 of The Guardians of The Galaxy.

Director James has recently wrapped up shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Though the plot of Vol. 3 and Holiday Special is yet to be revealed, the movie will return with Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, and Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot. Though, there is no news about Gamora after Avengers: Endgame, Zoë Saldaña is set to return at least for Volume 3. According to the director James Gunn, Volume 3 will provide both Nebula and Mantis with bigger roles, so we can presume that the filmmaker has also planned something for Gamora.
The production of the third volume was started in November 2021 and lasted till May 2022.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be premiered in the United States on May 5, 2023, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
