The Bollywood star opened up the reservations regarding Tom Cruise film, among his peers in India. Kapoor also talked about his view on working in Hollywood.
Anil Kapoor reveals he is a fan of Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise collaborated with the Bollywood icon Anil Kapoor for the film Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Before the release of the movie, Kapoor had shared his excitement for the film’s release and added that he is fond of his movies. The actor also revealed that some of his peers had reservations about Cruise, but now they have transformed into huge fans.
In an interview, the actor shared,
“I’m looking forward to Christopher Nolan’s (Oppenheimer) — I always look forward to all his films. I look forward to Tom Cruise’s films, the kind of action he’s done. These are the people whom I really look up to.”
He added,
“I was very fortunate when I did (Ghost Protocol), and when I spoke to my then colleagues, they said ‘Nahi nahi yaar, woh baat nahi hai.’ (He does not have any special factor) I said, ‘Pata chalega aapko’ (you will get to know). Now everybody’s a fan after Top Gun: Maverick.”
Anil Kapoor also shared that he encourages his Bollywood friends to take up international projects, but they refused stating contentment with their work in India. He recalled saying,
“International kaam bhi karo. Nahi hum India main theek hai.” (Do some international work also. They said they are better off in India).
However, He revealed that he later discovered that numerous actors had secretly pursued opportunities in Hollywood, for streaming projects.
Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible- Ghost Protocol
Hollywood’s action star’s film was released in 2011 and the spy film was directed by Brad Bird. It is the sequel to Mission: Impossible III (2006) and the leading cast included Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton.
As per the plot, when Impossible Missions Force (IMF) gets shut down after being publicly implicated in the bombing of the Kremlin, then Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his team make an effort without resources or backup to clear their names.
The film received positive reviews from critics, including an appreciation for the action sequences, Cruise’s performance, and the direction. The movie grossed $694 million worldwide, making it a box-office success.
In Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Anil Kapoor played the character of Brij Nath. He shared about it in interview with The Hollywood Reporter,
“I did draw a bit from my Indian acting experience but of course, there were other references too from real life. I just went and had a lot of fun. Brij Nath also has an element of fun and innocence in his character. The idea is to entertain.”
