Originally, Bloodlines 2 was being developed by Hardsuit Labs and had been revealed in February 2021, however, the studio moved on to another title. Now, the game has once again been announced, this time by The Chinese Room. Since there had already been quite a bit of information revealed about Bloodlines 2 from Hardsuit Labs, gamers have been wondering what might change with this switch.

The predecessor to Bloodlines 2, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, was originally received with mixed to positive responses. But, it has since grown in popularity as time has passed. In fact, there is somewhat of a cult following surrounding the title, which indicates future success for Bloodlines 2. As of now, we know that the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

What Is Bloodlines 2 And How Will It Connect to the Original

If you are one of the fans curious about Bloodlines 2, and want a little more information about the upcoming title, Paradox Interactive has provided details. The website for the game says the following:

“Fight your way through a modern-day Seattle on the brink of an open war as an elder Vampire. Meet the power-players, ally yourself and decide who will rule and what the city will become.”

Blood sustains you and powers your vampiric Disciplines. You’ll stalk and feed on the city’s population by night. Use your supernatural powers or raw persuasion on civilians and lure them into deep, dark alleys to sate your Hunger.

Beware of breaking the Masquerade though: do not reveal what you are or you risk reprisals –  at first from law enforcement and then, well, remember you are not all that goes bump in this night.”

It will be up to the player in Bloodlines 2 to either join vampire society, or fight against the monster they have become. Since the story still takes place in Seattle and deals with a vampire hierarchy, it is already clear that the narrative will be following what was already planned by Hardsuit Labs.

When the previous developer was working on Bloodlines 2, some of these details were revealed and so this helps gauge the changes made by The Chinese Room. Of course, the new developer has done important work to bring this title to players, but it did not re-invent the wheel in doing so. The changes made were likely in an effort to complete the unfinished product and not to alter the story in any big ways.

The good thing about those who did not play the original title is that Bloodline 2 will acts as more of a spiritual successor, than a direct sequel. Players should be able to go into it with no prior knowledge and still enjoy the game, even if they have not played the original. This is always a bonus for players, since often times some of the best video games to get sequels do not see it happen until decades later.

What do you think of the upcoming Bloodlines 2 title from The Chinese Room? Does the trailer look exciting and will you be playing the original in anticipation? Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts.
