With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness all set to make Marvel proud, the cast is giving small spoilers that are making fans curious about the upcoming film.
Recently, Doctor Strange 2 lead Benedict Cumberbatch revealed that the film does not include Strange Supreme from What If…? but rather a more “sinister” variant.
Cumberbatch’s New Revelation on Doctor Strange
Cumberbatch told that Doctor Strange Supreme, the animated variant that he voiced in multiple episodes of Marvel’s What If…? will not be seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
With the official trailers of Doctor Strange 2, it’s clearly shown that the recent Marvel Cinematic Universe animated series will have a major influence on the events of the film.
The multiverse of Madness has shown a live-action Doctor Strange variant which is very similar in appearance to the animated Strange Supreme.
This is the very reason that made fans believe that the two characters were the same. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
Cumberbatch told Total Film that the variant that appeared in previous trailers of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is called Sinister Strange which “is nothing that you’ve seen before.” He added, “What If…? is a beautiful riff of a potential. And this is something different.”
MCU’s connection with Doctor Strange 2
While we now know that Strange Supreme might not be seen from animation to live-action, fans have spotted a different What If…? character in the latest Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Captain Carter, a Peggy Carter variant seemed to show up in a TV spot fighting a version of Scarlet Witch played by Elizabeth Olsen. Hayley Atwell reprised her role as Peggy Carter from previous MCU films in What If…?, but it is still not known if she is playing Captain Carter in the Doctor Strange sequel since the character was not being revealed from the front.
Writer of Doctor Strange 2, Michael Waldron revealed that the MCU’s Multiverse will play a significant role in the upcoming sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange.
The writer in the month of April said, “In every way, it shapes the emotional heart of the story. It has to.” He added, “It’s complex stuff, emotionally, and that’s exactly why it’s so thrilling and so great for a cast as dramatically talented as this one.”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released in theatres on May 6.
