It was an epic historical film, which told the story of the Battle of Thermopylae in the Greco-Persian Wars. The story of the film was co-written and directed by Zack Snyder.
Gerard Butler‘s film grossed over $456 million worldwide and became the 24th-largest-grossing movie in box office history for the opening weekend at the time.
Warner Bros. team was allegedly immensely pleased with the movie’s success, and they bought $350,000 Aston Martin Vanquish for Snyder.
Snyder previously owned an Aston Martin at a younger age when he initially produced commercials. The cost for his previous used model was $28,000.

Zack Snyder’s successful comic book adaptation of movies
After making his first comic book-based film in 2006, he returned to the genre in 2013 for comic book adaptations for Man of Steel. The Superman flick was supposed to kickstart the DC Extended Universe. The film featured Henry Cavill in the lead role and was received well by the viewers. The film grossed over $668 million worldwide and became the ninth-highest-grossing film of that year. It became the highest-grossing Superman movie ever.
Post the success of the Cavill starrer film, he directed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. It featured Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in lead roles. The movie did better than his previous release and grossed over $873 million; despite average reviews.
Later on, he was associated with Justice League, however, he had to step down for personal reasons. The movie did average business, but the fans demanded Zack Snyder’s version of the film. Hence after numerous petitions online, Zack Snyder’s Justice League was released in 2021, which was a massive box office success. It was widely appreciated and grossed $658 million worldwide.
