Benedict Cumberbatch Also Beat Leonardo DiCaprio For A Role

Surprisingly, Warner Bros. didn’t originally consider him for the part in The Imitation Game. The studio acquired the script for a substantial sum, envisioning Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead. Unfortunately, DiCaprio had to decline due to scheduling conflicts.
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Benedict Cumberbatch shared how he had to persuade Warner Bros to select him for the role of Alan Turing. He was unwavering in his determination to portray the brilliant mathematician and make a substantial contribution to his legacy.
Cumberbatch told The Hollywood Reporter:
“I was not onboard, but I was onboard with the idea of being onboard. In my head, I was already onboard! I had to convince them.”
