Last year, Ruby Rose departed from her role of Kate Kane, aka Batwoman. Upon the return of the series this year, the focus shifted on Javicia Leslie’s character, Ryan Wilder. She became the new Batwoman of Gotham after Kate Kane mysteriously disappeared following a devastating plane crash. But now in Batwoman Season 2’s latest episode, Kate Kane has finally returned.

Episode 8, Survived Much Worse revealed Kate Kane lying unconscious in the sewers of Gotham. Apparently, she was unrecognizable and covered in heavy bandages. People believed her to be dead, but it was revealed that even after being burnt, she is indeed alive. Now, the second half of Batwoman season 2 will continue with her story with Krypton’s Wallis Day playing the part.

Batwoman showrunner, Caroline Dries told TVLine:

“Wallis Day is going to be playing our altered version of Kate Kane, and she’s an amazing actress. I’m excited for you guys to see the journey that she endures.”

Well, it’s quite an exciting choice, to say the least. In the past, Wallis Day has worked in Jekyll and Hyde and Casanova, and she is set to star in Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming film Infinite, featuring Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Ruby Rose’s casting as Kate Kane met with quite a lot of backlash from the fans, but she proved everyone wrong. Her portrayal of Batwoman was quite amazing. Now, fans hope the same from Day as the reception of her recasting has been fairly positive so far. She did some great work as Krypton’s Nyssa-Vex. So, it’s quite likely that she’d be great as Kate Kane as well.

While speaking with ComicBookMovie in a recent interview, Ruby Rose said that was open to returning as Kate Kane. But with The CW recasting the character, it’s apparent that they have something different in works for the character.
