Having a less-than-humble beginning from his teenage days, Tobey Maguire was adamant about making it big. And it didn’t take long for the actor to land some big paychecks and stardom, as the actor’s 20s witnessed him taking on several projects, including the Spider-Man movies, whose impact still lives on within the Superhero realm.
However, the actor’s earnings weren’t just limited to the hefty paychecks he received for working on several acclaimed projects, as he allegedly made millions from his high-stakes underground poker ring. Although Maguire has come a long way from his scandalous past, it did once come back to haunt him after allegations arose claiming he humiliated Molly Bloom, who organized these illicit games.
Tobey Maguire Once Humiliated Her, Claimed Molly Bloom
While the reports regarding his involvement in the sketchy gambling ring didn’t portray him in a positive light, the alleged claims from Molly Brown only worsened the situation. Bloom called out the Brothers Star’s demeanor in her memoir, claiming that he allegedly asked her to “bark like a seal who wants a fish” for a $1,000 chip. According to the excerpt from Molly’s Game, published by Vanity Fair, Maguire was fixated on his demand and wasn’t too happy when Bloom turned it down, stating,
“I’m not kidding. What’s wrong? You’re too rich now? You won’t bark for a thousand dollars?” Bloom wrote.
Although there wasn’t any substantial weight behind her comments, some people did back her claims while Maguire never came forward to address her memoir.
Tobey Maguire Was Allegedly Fixated on Molly Bloom’s Earnings
Despite being the biggest winner regularly, Tobey Maguire was “the worst tipper… and the absolute worst loser,” stated Bloom. The Molly’s Game author further explained she didn’t get along well with Tobey Maguire, claiming that he was becoming fixated on her earnings from tips, allegedly wanting to “cap” her gains, claiming, “Your money is my money.” But in order to protect her own interests and job, Molly Bloom often went along with Tobey Maguire’s demands.
“Tobey was powerful and tactical,” Molly Bloom wrote in her memoir. “There was a tiny nagging voice in the back of my head that was telling me that Tobey being unhappy spelled trouble for me, but I tried to stay focused.”
Apart from remaining silent on her claims, the Spider-Man: No Way Home Star reportedly also hasn’t reached out to Molly Bloom since their days together in the illicit games.
