For many players, preloading is an essential part of preparing for a release, as it will allow them to download the game ahead of its premiere. This is usually two days before the set release time, which provides plenty of time to make space, and ensure the game is downloaded and ready for the opening night. Then, once these gamers get home, they will be ready to jump straight into the game.

Throughout the past few years, preloading a game has become a lot more commonplace in the gaming industry. It is a vital part of ensuring there will always be access to players who do not have the time to download a game as it releases. It is also good for those who do not have the patience to download a game after release, and then wait a potential 2-4 hours for the game to download, depending their WiFi service.

Given these circumstances, many gamers love the idea of preloading. Nevertheless, during its production process, there were talks that Baldur’s Gate 3 wouldn’t have any form of preloading to consoles. This had many worried, since the game is so large and currently takes 108 GB of space. Even on some of the fastest internet speeds, that could still take over an hour or two to actually download, which can annoy a lot of gamers.

Over the past few weeks, whilst Baldur’s Gate 3 has been released on PC, it has gained a lot of attention from gamers. The title has seen a large number of concurrent players during its first few weeks of release and has been one of the most played games on Steam. Over that time it has built up considerable hype, and gamers are wondering if this trend will continue on consoles.

For now, Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to have a lot of gamers logging in on day one, especially once it releases through its standard edition. But even during the digital deluxe early access, there will be quite a few thousand people logging in on day one. Baldur’s Gate 3 will drop during the day across the globe, rather than some locations having a late night or early morning release.
