It’s a challenging period for Marvel movies, with subpar projects emerging from the franchise. The ongoing Multiverse Saga is set to culminate in a two-part Avengers movie in MCU Phase 6. These films, titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, have revealed little more than their titles and possibly the main villain, Kang. Currently, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have caused delays in further Marvel projects.
The Multiverse Saga carries fewer expectations compared to its predecessor, the Infinity Saga. The Russo brothers managed to give a grandeur climax to the Infinity Saga, but after their exit, Marvel is still searching for a fitting replacement to helm the next star-studded Avengers movie.
This Controversial MCU Director Is Rumored To Direct Avengers 6
In a recent unofficial update from the @MyTimeToShineH Twitter account, Marvel is eyeing Multiverse of Madness director, Sam Raimi, to replace the Russo brothers in the sixth Avengers movie. It is also reported that Doctor Strange will lead the Avengers in their war against the almighty Kang. The sequel to Doctor Strange received mixed responses from fans and critics, with criticisms aimed at the director’s horror-style filmmaking.
The Spider-Man director’s confession that he never saw the entire WandaVision series drew flak from fans. Raimi was not even aware of Wanda’s timeline and Elizabeth Olsen had to clarify the director’s doubts during the filming of Doctor Strange 2. However, the Evil Dead director also stated that he was more than halfway into the Doctor Strange script when he learned that the studio was making WandaVision, which would serve as a precursor to his movie.
Fans Question Sam Raimi’s Qualifications To Direct The Multiverse Saga Finale
Avengers: Secret Wars will be the culmination of all the events of the Multiverse Saga. Fans worry that Sam Raimi may mishandle Secret Wars, as they believe he did with Doctor Strange, without researching the previous installments. Some fans also advocated bringing back the Russo brothers for Secret Wars, while others suggested Ryan Coogler, the Black Panther director, to take the helm.
Fans have also directed their anger at Michael Waldron. Waldron is confirmed to be the writer for Avengers: Secret Wars, and he was the writer of previous Marvel projects, Loki and Multiverse of Madness. Although Loki was a critical success, Waldron missed the mark with the latter film.
Fans will have to see what the Rick and Morty writer will conjure up for the Marvel team-up, expected to release in 2027.
