Avatar was re-released this week. The film, which became the highest-grossing film after its release in 2009, went down to the second position after the release of Avengers: Endgame. But after its re-release in China, the film got its top spot back in 2021. After 13 years of the original movie, the filmmakers are coming back with a sequel to the film, Avatar: The Way of Water. Film’s director, James Cameron, also announced that the film would be re-released in theatres three months prior to the release of its sequel.
Avatar was re-released this week all around the world, refreshing the audiences’ memories of the exotic world of Pandora. The re-release did not include any new scenes and was the same as earlier. However, it would be in the 4K high dynamic range and a higher frame rate for some selected scenes.
Avatar Earns $3.5 Million in The International Box Office With its Re-release
James Cameron’s film grossed $3.5 million from 37 International Box Office within two days of its re-release. The film grabbed the top spot in Italy, Germany, and Mexico, with $300K, $200K, and $200K, respectively. It opened at third place in Australia with $400k. Besides these, it also got the top spot in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Ukraine, Singapore, Thailand, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia.
Avatar was re-released in North America, the UK, Japan, and India on September 23. With its release in North America, it has crossed $2.5 million in pre-sales only.

Avatar: The Way of Water is the direct sequel to the 2009 film. However, it would not be the last film in the franchise. There are three more films on their way to be released in 2024, 2026, and 2028.
