Marvel’s highly anticipated miniseries Secret Invasion starring Samuel L. Jackson in his iconic character Nick Fury was released earlier this week. The series follows Nick Fury as he tries to save humanity from the shapeshifting Skrull invasion. While the series has been praised by many, some fans have also shared their disappointment with the show’s opening credits, which were developed with the help of AI. It has become a topic of discussion among fans since the premiere.
Amid the whole controversy for generating the opening credits with AI, artists responsible for the outcome called their work groundbreaking and a milestone in an Instagram post, only to delete it after the backlash.
Artists Behind Secret Invasion Opening Credits Express Gratitude
While the recently released Marvel miniseries Secret Invasion has been receiving positive reviews from fans and critics, one of the things about the show is not appreciated by many. The Samuel L. Jackson starrer features AI-generated opening credits.
The director of the show Ali Selim has shared that they did it on purpose as they wanted to capture the theme of the show. Recently, the AI Technical Director behind the intro of Secret Invasion also took to Instagram to share their experience working on the project.
The “AI Technical Director” for the show’s intro shared that it has been an “absolute privilege” to work with the studio and the team. “This project represents a significant milestone as it pioneers the utilization of AI technology in a production of such magnitude,” the creator mentioned in the post.
They further called it a “groundbreaking endeavor” for AI’s use in creativity and storytelling before adding that they are honored to be a part of this journey. However, the post was not very well received by fans, who shared their disapproval of the AI-generated work, leading to the deletion of the Instagram post.
Fans Do Not Believe Using AI is a Groundbreaking Move
As the team of creators behind Secret Invasion’s opening credits termed it a milestone, groundbreaking move and shared that it took them months to plan and execute the whole thing, fans were quick to share their refusal toward it. They also questioned if they were so sure of their work, and why did they need to delete the post following the backlash.
Others stated why these creators are so desperate to prove their hard work, saying, “The really funny thing is, imagine if they put REAL actual human work into it for 2 or 3 months.” Many also pointed out how they were not able to bring out the best even with the use of AI, as they called the opening credits “default mid-journey outputs that any rando could generate.”
Secret Invasion is streaming on Disney+.
