Arnold Schwarzenegger is an action icon. Throughout his career, he has done a number of action films such as Terminator, Commando, Predator, and many more. His films are renowned for the action sequences portraying serious characters, and his iconic Austrian accent gives a unique touch to his roles.
However, the Austrian Oak is not only remembered for his physique but also for his lavish car collection. Arnold Schwarzenegger has a wide variety of sports cars which includes an Audi R8, Cadillac Escalade, Dodge Challenger SRT, Porsche 911 Turbo, and more. However, his most unique vehicle is an M-47 Patton Tank, a 50-ton Austrian war vehicle that he uses to prevent children from dropping out of school.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Uses His Tank To Keep Children in School
During an episode of CNBC’s Jay Leno’s Garage, Arnold Schwarzenegger visited Jay Leno in his 1951 M-47 Patton, which is jacked with an 810-horsepower Chrysler V12 twin-turbo gas engine. During the episode, he stated that it was the very same tank that he drove when he had to compulsorily serve a year in the Austrian National Army in 1965. He explained that he got the tank for free, but shipping it to the US cost him $20,000 in 1991.
Once used in the frontlines, the Former Governor of California now uses the war vehicle to motivate young children to stay in school.
“I bring kids out here from the after-school programs. When they stay in school their reward is to come out here and drive tanks with me.”
Prior to achieving success in life, the Commando actor faced a lot of obstacles to enjoy the recognition he gets from people today. And during his early career, Schwarzenegger realized that education was the key factor that will help him in having a successful career in Hollywood. As a result, the Austrian Oak would often take different steps to promote education to children who come from unprivileged communities in the country.

After talking about the 1951 war vehicle, the two entered the tank so that they can enjoy destroying things. Together, they crushed a limousine. Then, the Predator actor scanned his surroundings so that they can enjoy destroying other things. Schwarzenegger found a run-down shed, however, an NBC lawyer stated that they can’t crush it.
Disappointed, the former governor asked if they could destroy the equipment behind the cameras, as destroying “it will be so much fun.” However, the lawyer intervened again, as Leno said, “No, the NBC lawyer says we can’t do that either because it’s some kind of insurance regulation.”
They finally found a target when the lawyer was seen going into a portable toilet, which was conveniently placed right in front of the tank. Arnold Schwarzenegger hits the accelerator, and Leno screamed, “Hasta la vista, lawyer!” Later, Jay Leno assured his viewers that the lawyer was not hurt.
“No lawyers were harmed in the making of this show. Only interns.”
The two enjoyed themselves driving a war vehicle and providing some valuable life lessons to their young viewers watching the episode. And it showed how Arnold Schwarzenegger is passionate about providing educational opportunities to the younger generation.
