Titled Simon Says, the screenplay centered around an improbable partnership combating city-wide bomb threats. However, the tragic demise of Brandon Lee during the making of The Crow in 1993 led to Warner Bros. acquiring the script and adapting it into the Lethal Weapon series with modern elements.
