Apart from being an outstanding actor widely acclaimed by fans all over the world, Jason Momoa is also quite vocal about his thoughts on the issues going around the world. So when he found out about the destruction caused by the wildfires in his homeland Hawaii, he was bound to speak up to ask for help from people around the world.
Sharing how heartbroken he is after becoming aware of the current situation in The Aloha State, Momoa posted on Instagram seeking help for the Maui community after wildfire wipes out an entire town, with numerous people confirmed dead and several others missing on the island.
Jason Momoa Shares Heartbroken Message Asking For Help For Hawaiians
Watching his homeland suffer was more than enough to break the ever-happy actor Jason Momoa. An actor who is almost always vocal about the things that disturb him, the Aquaman star took to Instagram to make those unaware aware about the current situation in Maui. Reposting a message from a non-profit fundraising account raising money for the Hawaiians, he wrote,
“We are devastated and heartbroken for our friends and ‘ohana [family] on Maui who [have] been impacted by the recent wildfires.”
He also shared a statement regarding the same about how he is feeling watching the place he loves the most heading toward ruins. Momoa said,
“My heart goes out to all those affected by the devastating fires across the Island of Maui. In times like these, we come together as an ‘Ohana, a family, to kāko’o and kōkua one another. The destruction caused by these fires is heartbreaking, but our community’s resilience and strength will shine through. I urge everyone to stay safe and heed the advice of local authorities. Let us all do our part to prevent the further spread of the fires and support those on the front lines, working tirelessly to protect our homes and natural treasures.”
While the authorities are doing everything they can to rescue people before more destruction takes place, as of now, 55 people have been confirmed dead with 1000 others have been reported missing on the island.
Jason Momoa Even Cut Off His Locks To Support Environmental
Raising awareness and help for the current devastating situation in Hawaii wasn’t the only time Jason Momoa was vocal about the difficulties faced by his homeland. In August last year, the Aquaman star went personal and even chopped his iconic locks off for supporting environmental campaigns. Posting on Instagram a video of him during the hair-cut process, he can be seen saying,
“Doing it for single-use plastics. I’m tired of using plastic bottles, we gotta stop, plastic forks, all that s—, goes into our land, goes into our ocean. I’m here in Hawaii right now, and just seeing things in our ocean, it’s just so sad. Please, anything you can do to eliminate single-use plastics in your lives. Help me, plastic bottles are ridiculous… we’re going to keep going — oh, man.”
Jason Momoa’s sincere devotion and commitment toward his hometown and the problems faced by it just show how genuine of a person he is, despite being a celebrity. Nonetheless, our heartfelt prayers are with the people of Hawaii, and we wish for a quick recovery for all those affected by the disaster.
