What Is Alone in the Dark and Who Are the Protagonists?
Alone in the Dark is a remake of the classic 1992 title, which takes place at the gothic American home, Derceto Manor. It is set in the 1920’s and is designed to captivate the era in the most haunting of ways. The title is a psychological horror experience, where players never know what is hiding behind every corner and the shadows protect dark secrets. Gamers will get to choose between one of two protagonists, either Emily Hartwood, played by the massively talented Killing Eve star Jodie Comer, or Edward Carnby, played by legendary Stranger Things actor David Harbour. The player will experience the story from one of these two perspectives, as they investigate the disappearance of Emily Hartwood’s Uncle, Jeremy Hartwood.

Alone in the Dark was written by Mikael Hedberg, known for Soma, Need for Speed: Payback, and Amnesia: Rebirth. The game appears to take inspiration from various horror icons such as Alfred Hitchcock, H.P Lovecraft, and Edgar Allan Poe. Everything from the classic setting to the strength of the actors involved, indicates this game could be a major hit when it releases. It is certainly going to raise eyebrows amongst video game lovers, with its third person perspective style that has been compared to the Resident Evil remakes. When Alone in the Dark comes out this Fall it will hopefully be a fun new adventure and a worthy competitor amongst the other October releases.
